How to

General

How to clean and lubricate your Spyder.

Read safety instructions in owners manual before you proceed. Make sure you de-gas your marker by removing HPA or Co2 tank and insure there is no pressure remaining in the valve or regulator. Remove the barrel and clean any debris or paint and polish bore with a swab or paper towel, Pull the retaining pin from the rear of the marker this is under spring pressure so be sure to hold end cap so the parts don't spring out and get lost. Pull the hammer and bolt assembly from the body and examine the o-rings for wear replace if necessary, the hammer should have a red o-ring on it and the bolt should have 2-4 black o-rings on it depending on model. If you have a plastic or delrin bolt you may not have any o-rings and do not oil a delrin bolt or it will absorb the oil and swell inside marker body

Internal components of Spyder

Wipe all parts clean and swab or wipe out breech all the way through to barrel threading. After breach barrel and all internal parts have been cleaned, inspected and replaced if warn prepare them for re-installation by putting a drop of oil on each o-ring. Use only paintball marker oil, do not use any oil containing solvents. Connect the hammer to the bolt connecting pin and line up with top and bottom tubes, hammer on bottom, bolt on top with bolt forward, slide these parts inside until they stop, apply light forward pressure and you will feel a slight give and spring pressure, pull the trigger to release (Piranha markers have a sear release which allows you to install the bolt and hammer assembly without pulling the trigger) the sear and the bolt hammer assembly will go forward but will remain in the cocked position re-apply pressure and pull trigger one more time the bolt and hammer will again move forward and will be in the un-cocked position,

Cocked position before retainer cap and pin installed

slide spring into the lower tube and into the back of the hammer opening, slide the large black rubber bumper over the spring and into the body, slide the plastic spring guide inside the spring with round end forward. Return small round metal adjust plates into back end cap in front of velocity adjust screw and side over drive spring and into body, return end cap retainer and retainer lock. Without gassing up the marker test by cocking the marker and insuring it catches on sear hold the cocking knob and release the sear by pulling the trigger while holding the cocking knob as to not let the hammer come forward with full spring pressure, Some models can be damaged by dry firing so this is a good practice to follow.

Properly assembled Spyder

If assembled properly you may now air test the marker, put goggles on and a barrel cover on the marker connect the full Co2 or HPA tank to marker listen for air leaks, if there are no leaks then you may cock and dry fire the marker to insure its ready to take the field. Have your marker tested at the chronograph to 300 fps or less. Some models may vary and we do not recommend doing any repaired without adult permission and supervision. We do not recommend this be done on the field, you may loose parts. If you get started and cant finish bring it in and we will do it for you.  If you are missing parts do not continue bring it to the shop so we can get you the parts you need. Improperly installed or missing parts could cause damage, injury or death.
